Nine of Narmada Winery’s wines have won awards in the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Southeastern Wine Competition, which was held August 13-14, 2011.

The competition is sponsored by the Dixie Classic Fair, the second largest fair in North Carolina and one of the 50 largest fairs in North America.

This year’s wine competition set a new record with a total of 544 wine entries in various categories.

Local painter Armand Cabrera will be the featured guest artist at Narmada Winery’s artist reception on September 30 from 5-6 PM. Cabrera’s paintings also will be on display in the Narmada Winery Tasting Room from September 30 – November 30,2011.

Armand moved to Warrenton, Virginia from San Francisco several years ago. He enjoys painting the four seasons and paints in the “alla prima” style, completing his paintings in one sitting without waiting for the layers of paint to dry.

Armand has spent two decades as a successful production artist in the computer games and entertainment industry, creating conceptual designs, background art, and special effects animation and storyboarding. His clients include LucasFilm Games, Disney, Electronic Arts, Virgin Entertainment, Nickelodeon, Microsoft and Paramount Pictures.

Armand is represented in art galleries across the country. He has had numerous one-man exhibitions and his work is found in notable corporate and private collections around the world. He has been juried into the prestigious Laguna Plein Air Competition, Sonoma Plein Air, Plein Air Easton, Rocky Mountain Plein Air, California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition, Carmel Art Festival, Napa Valley Museum, PLein Air Easton Exhibition, Telluride Plein Air and International Museum of Contemporary Masters “Salon International,” to name a few. Armand has been honored with top awards at many of these shows.

International Artist Magazine published a 10-page article featuring Armand’s work and a painting demonstration. Plein Air Magazine will be publishing an article about Armand in their Winter issue. American Art Collector featured Armand’s “Paintings of the Piedmont” One Man Exhibition in a 4-page article. Among others, International Artist, Art of the West, American Art Collector, and Southwest Art Magazines have recognized Armand Cabrera as one of the premier contemporary painters in the country.

Four Narmada Wines Win Awards

Narmada Winery is pleased to announce that its 2009 Melange wine has been awarded a silver medal at the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association (ASWA) competition.
The 2009 Melange is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Tannat, and Cabernet Sauvignon, and it’s sure to join your list of must-have wines.
Other winners at the ASWA competition were:
  • 2010 Gulabi, silver medal and Best in Category for blush/rose hybrid wines;
  • 2010 Viognier, silver;
  • 2010 Midnight, silver;
  • 2009 Yash-Vir, silver;
  • 2010 Lotus, bronze; and
  • 2010 MOM, bronze.

Midnight Sangria Recipe: Serves 20

2 bottles of Narmada Winery’s Midnight Wine
1 cup frozen orange juice
2 cans cold Sprite
1/4 cup sugar
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
6-8 strawberries
20 mint leaves

Mix all ingredients together, then chill on ice. Enjoy!

Wine Club Member Picnic June 11

Narmada Winery wine club members are invited to our exclusive member-only picnic on Saturday, June 11, from 4-8 PM.

The picnic will be hosted in the outdoor pavilion at Narmada’s Blue Ridge vineyard, overlooking a peaceful, fish-stocked pond.

Come and enjoy free food along with our new 2010 wines and our new Port wine!

Members’ June wine club shipments will also be available for pickup at the winery that day.

Wine and Wheels Show May 21

Narmada Winery will host “a new kind of car show” on Saturday, May 21, from 10 AM – 3 PM.

In addition to the classic cars and trucks already anticipated, we are looking for exotic cars, electric cars, and hybrid cars that show off 21st-Century automotive technology!

If this is the kind of car you are driving, buff it up and bring it out! Or just come to admire the handsome show cars that will be on display around Narmada’s beautiful lake.

We’ll have a variety of tempting foods on hand to please your palate, from Indian cuisine to all-American fare. And, of course, you can top it all off with Narmada’s award-winning vintage wines.

Show car slots on the day of the event are only $15.

When you preregister for $15, you will receive a commemorative T-shirt and dashboard plaque, American Fare Food Coupon, and other goodies.

Festivities kick off at 10 AM, but, if you are bringing a car to show, the field set-up is from 8 AM – 10 AM.
